Over milelong new sidewalk coming to small northeast Missouri community

Crews from Stanton Contracting LLC, of Kirksville, will construct the sidewalk along Route V, which is the main drag through Gibbs. . . .

The new sidewalk will be approximately 1.2 miles long. It will begin at Frontage Road at the north city limits, go all the way through the small community of Gibbs and then extend another 6/10ths of a mile past the south city limits.

MoBikeFed comment: According to MoDOT, "This work is being completed as part of MoDOT’s initiative for compliance with the current standards of the American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA). . . . This contract also includes additional sidewalk improvements at the following locations in Schuyler County that were completed earlier this summer."

Those locations include Missouri Route 202/Route AA from Fourth Street to Sixth Street in Glenwood, Route K from Fifth Street to U.S. Route 63 in Greentop, Route M from Park Street to Third Street in Glenwood, Route M from Locust Street to Hickory Street in Glenwood, Route W from Second Street to U.S. Route 63 in Queen City.

MoDOT's ADA compliance work includes bringing all pedestrian facilities along MoDOT routes in Missouri up to modern ADA requirements, and has been ongoing for more than a decade.
