MoDOT Safe Routes to School Grants - Application period Feb 1-Apr 15, 2011
John Schaefer of MoDOT, the Missouri Safe Routes to School coordinator, sent out the following announcement about the upcoming grant application period for MoDOT Safe Routes to School Infrastructure Grants and a series of workshops around the state for those interested in applying for the grants:
I am happy to announce that Missouri's Safe Routes to School program will be accepting grant applications for Infrastructure projects. The grant cycle will open on February 1, 2011 and close on April 15, 2010. There will be ten grant application workshops across the state. The workshops will show you how to apply for a grant and answer any questions regarding the program or potential infrastructure projects. Safe Routes to School Infrastructure projects include the planning, design, and construction of infrastructure related projects that will substantially improve the ability of students to walk and bicycle to school, including
- sidewalk improvements
- traffic calming and speed reduction improvements
- pedestrian and bicycle crossing improvements
- on-street bicycle facilities
- off-street bicycle and pedestrian facilities
- secure bicycle parking facilities
- traffic diversion improvements in the vicinity of schools
Attached is a registration form for the grant workshops. If you plan to apply for a grant, please attend one of the workshops. To register, you may fill out the attachment and forward the completed form to Angie Otto at mailto:angelia.otto@modot.mo.gov You also have the option to mail or fax a completed registration form to MoDOT's Design Division:

The current funding available for this round of infrastructure projects is approximately $1.6 million.
