Tourism Commission set to approve budget with no Tour of MO funding

The AP is reporting:
A state tourism committee is proposing eliminating funding for the Tour of Missouri bicycle race.

A budget committee for the Missouri Tourism Commission approved a $13.4 million spending plan Thursday that includes no state money for this summer's bicycle race.

The budget plan still must go before the full commission. Organizers of the race have said previously that it likely will have to be canceled if the state does not subsidize it.
As we have said before, it is just disappointing they have made this decision without even meeting with us about it--especially after they General Assembly approved a specific appropriation for it.
