Roads were built for bicycles

The bicycle remains a significant transportation tool. There are 800 million bicycles in worldwide use compared to 400 million motorized vehicles. The majority of these bicycles are used for transportation. In some cities in western Europe, 25 percent to 50 percent of all trips are by bicycle. There are even cities in the U.S. in which 10 percent to 25 percentt of all trips are by bicycle.
