The American Discovery Trail is a hike/bike trail going across the U.S. from east to west. It uses off-road trails as much as possible but links them together via road segments when necessary. Detailed directions are given for traversing the road segments. The segment going through Missouri uses the Katy Trail for much of the distance but connects the Katy Trail to Kansas City and St. Louis via on-road segments.
