MoBikeFed presents award to Rep. Oberstar
Submitted by Brent Hugh on Thu, 12/29/2005 - 9:25pm
Congressman James L. Oberstar of Minnesota has played an important role in nearly every bit of bicycle and pedestrian legislation that has come out of the U.S. Congress in past decades.
Notable in 2005 was Oberstar's championing of the Safe Routes to Schools program, which has now become part of federal transportation policy.
MoDOT Bicycle/Pedestrian Coordinator and MoBikeFed Board Member Caryn Giarratano recently met Congressman Oberstar at a conference in Washington, D.C., and presented the Congressman with an award recognizing his service to the bicycling and pedestrian community.
The beautiful, hand-made art-quality award was created by MoBikeFed board member Doug Havach.
