Donate your tax refund to bicycle advocacy

The Chicagoland Bicycle Federation recently sent this story of a member who donates his Tax Refund towards bicycle advocacy:
While some people dread it, Tax Day carries with it sense of anticipation for me.

It's the one time I get a little something back from the government – and believe me, I welcome it with open arms. I like to use my tax refund to give back to an organization that has improved my life as a bicyclist.

Thanks to the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation, the region has become such a bicycle-friendly place, I was able to sell my car years ago and bike most places. I figure I save $6,000 - $8,000 every year by not owning and maintaining a car, so why not give back to the organization that is dedicated to making this major step so easy and fun for all of us? If you're willing to join me, click here to donate your tax refund.

The voice for Chicagoland bicyclists and pedestrians — the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation — always puts my dollars to good use. With the changes we've seen in the past 10 years making Chicago a more bikable city, I can't wait to see how it will improve for cyclists in the next ten years. I want to be a part of this change, and am willing to help pay for it in this small way.

The Chicagoland Bicycle Federation's endeavors are already flooding the region — expect to see more commuters on bike this year thanks to the Bicycling Commuting Campaign that kicks off in April. . . .

This is the one time each year you have control over your tax dollars. Please join me and put them to a good use.

Sincerely,
Clark Maxfield

The Chicagoland Bicycle Federation is a great organization and if you live or bicycle in that area, they are a great organization to support.

But if you live or bicycle in Missouri, how about using your Tax Refund to support MoBikeFed's current $25,000 Challenge Campaign?

The William A. Kerr Foundation has generously offered to match up to $25,000 in contributions dollar for dollar, effectively doubling your contribution.

We still need to raise over $10,000 to reach the $25,000 challenge.

This funding helps us carry out effective programs like our recent Bicycle Day at the Capitol and our effort to organize the largest delegation ever from Missouri at the National Bike Summit.

These ongoing efforts to build support among our state and national legislators are really paying off now.
