Bicycle/Pedestrian Holidays Bill passes Senate committee; finds House sponsor
SB 180, which will add Bicycle & Pedestrian Days and Months to the state holidays calendar, has had a hearing and received a "do pass" recommendation from the Senate committee.
The bill, sponsored by Senator Will Kraus of Lee's Summit, adds Bike Month, Bike Week, Bike to Work Day, Walk to School Month, and Walk to School Day to the state's holiday calendar.
Rep. Noel Torpey of Kansas City agreed to sponsor the bill in the House, where it is HB 472.
Bicycle Month (May) and Walk to School Month (October) are among the most powerful tools we have for promoting bicycling and walking in Missouri. This bill will help strengthen both of those events in Missouri.
