Trailnet's Ann Mack has posted an update on the trial in the Sam Scott case:

We have been informed that the next court date for Emily Hagan, the driver charged in the Sam Scott case is Friday, March 8 at 9:00 a.m. in the St. Louis St. Louis County Court Building at 7900 Carondelet Ave., Clayton, MO 63105.

Trailnet staff will attend, as we have each previous scheduled court date.  While we cannot guarantee there will not be another extension, we encourage you to attend.

We are told that if you plan to attend the hearing, you should check with the prosecutor's office the weekday before the hearing, to make sure the hearing is still set. Last minute continuances are often granted. Previously we were told the court case number is 12SLCR03697. We have been told that for more information, the office responsible for this case can be contacted at 314.615.8029.

Scott was bicycling home from his job at Dewey's Pizza Shop in University City when he was hit and killed on February 3rd, 2012.  The driver, Emily Hagan (pictured above) was charged with first degree involuntary manslaughter and driving while intoxicated.  Police reported that Hagan's intoxication level was over three times the legal limit.

Hagan has hired a first-rate defense lawyer and is mounting a vigorous defense--one reason it is important for supporters of Scott and his family to attend Hagan's court dates.

Trailnet's website has more about the case and the STLBikeFed email list has frequent updates and information.
