Christopher L. Gates, 37, of Leadington, has been charged with the Class C felony of second-degree assault on a law enforcement officer, the Class D felony of unlawful use of a weapon, and the unclassified charge of armed criminal action. His bond is set at $100,000.
According to court records, three off-duty police officers were riding bicycles on Flat River Road on March 22. When they passed a home a medium-sized dog charged at one of the men.
Gates' fiance reportedly came outside and asked if there was a problem. The man told her that if the dog attacked him he would kill it. She then reportedly went back in the house and spoke with Gates, who came outside pointing a semi-automatic handgun at the man, threatening to blow a hole in the man's head.
