McDavid also plans to announce the formation of a new pedestrian safety task force on May 8 as part of the celebrations. Free breakfasts will be available that morning from 7 a.m. until 9 a.m. at several trails and parks and at City Hall, where the mayor will make the announcement.

The idea for a new pedestrian task force was born out of concern about recent “high profile” pedestrian accidents and fatalities, McDavid said.
