The Spirit Trail project advanced a step with the signing of a permanent easement on an 0.81-acre tract of land owned by William Turnbow.
Johnson County Presiding Commissioner Bill Gabel said the 0.81-acre easement is the only tract of land that had to be acquired for a permanent easement.
The easement allows the trail to make a more gradual incline up a steep hill on the old county road right of way.
