Lose The Training Wheels is coming to Columbia July 19-23, 2010

PedNet sent the following announcement:

Lose The Training Wheels is coming to Columbia!
 
What this means to you:
            We need participants!
            We need volunteers!
 
What it is: Lose The Training Wheels is a week long day camp that uses adapted bicycles, a specialized instructional program, and a trained staff to enable individuals with disabilities to learn to ride a two-wheeled bicycle.
 
When:  July 19-23, 2010
Where: Columbia, MO   Gentry Middle School

Who can volunteer:
Anyone with an interest in helping children experience the joy of biking.

Who can enroll:
participants must meet the following criteria:
   *Have a diagnosed disability
  *Be at least 8 years old
  *Have a minimum inseam of 20 inches
  *Weight less than 220 pounds
  *Be able to walk without an assistive device
  *Be able to side-step quickly
  *Be able and willing to wear a properly fitted helmet.

Cost:  $150 camp fee.  For families eligible for BCFR funding*, the fee is $75.
