Submitted by Brent Hugh on Thu, 09/23/2004 - 7:13am
The following statistics about the Katy Trail are based on an economic impact statement on the trail by Wallace Keck of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources:
- There are 300,000 annual users of the Katy Trail (and this is a very conservative estimate)
- There are 300 businesses specifically catering to trail users
- Katy Trail visitors have been documented from all 50 states and 20 foreign countries
- The typical visitor is a repeat visitor, mid-40s, with one or more college degrees, and income
$75,000 or higher. - An equal number of walkers and bicyclists use the trail, and an equal number of men and women
Some economic statistics related to the Katy Trail are here.
