February 2008
Volunteers/positions needed
- E-newsletter editor (Caryn)
- Newsletter editor - needed
- BikeMO fund raising chair - needed
- BikeMO overall coordinator - needed
- Tour of Missouri reporters (Wes Revels & Mark Breeding)
- Volunteer Coordinator (Cathy Gray Cunningham)
- Online calendar editor (Bob Omer)
Tour of Missouri Volunteer Coordinator
- Position offered again; I plan to accept
- Great synergy with MoBikeFed's mission
Katy Trail Connection committee
- foster communication/cooperation among DNR, agencies, cities, counties, organizations to get the Katy Connection to Kansas City done
- have talked to many key organizations, cities, agencies & they are all supportive
- recent developments/resistance in the state legislature make it clear this kind of cooperation & grassroots advocacy support is very much needed
- will now pursue this with DNR
Grants
- MBF has a "subcontractor" position in a grant in the KC region help to organize/promote bicycle month and related activities. The contract may be signed within a month or two if all goes well.
- We have an intern! Mike Goodman of UMKC (part of the Bike Month program/grant)
- Planning a CMAQ application in the upcoming round (due early March)
- Planning applications as part of the upcoming Safe Routes to Schools grant round
Lobbyist
- Suggest raising amount paid to $10,000. This is well justified and money well spent. Paying him more allows him to justify spending more time on our issues. (He is working on 2 major pieces of legislation for us this year PLUS 2 or 3 minor pieces. Usually it would be $25-$35,000 for one major pieces and $10,000 for the 'little things'. So he is giving is a really good "nonprofit rate".)
Membership/donation payment processing
- It's really working pretty decently now.
Bicycle Day at the Capitol - Feb 26th
- Please come!
National Bike Summit - Mar 4-7
- Work to get representation from MO & location accommodation
- Best group representing Missouri ever!
- Still looking for more reps (especially from Roy Blunt's district--Springfield)
Legislative work
- Bills ready to find co-sponsors/introduce next week
- Next need Bike Month resolution language ASAP

- Recent hacker attacks fended off now
- Overhauled/improved advocacy email campaign system
- Legislative district info for all members/supporters
Online Calendar
- Significant improvements
