Quick updates: St Joseph trails, Jackson County, Kirksville bike lanes, MoDOT bike/ped project list, Delmar Loop, St Louis Bike Station

A few quick updates from around Missouri:
- St Joseph, MO, has created an excellent web page summarizing the city's trail and greenway system
- Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders has become a strong supporter of bicycling, walking, and transit:
Take your pick: walking, bicycling or watching the world go by from the seat of a commuter rail car. Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders wants new or expanded opportunities for each and says they represent needed areas of regional cooperation.
“The Kansas City metropolitan area is at a crossroads,” Sanders said Tuesday. “That is why I speak today with great determination as I say that it is time for a new direction in how we live, how we work and how we move.”
- The city of Kirksville has received a grant for and is moving forward with bike lanes and a campaign to promote healthy lifestyles, with more to come in the near future.
- MoDOT has been working hard to create their list of High Priority Bike/Ped/ADA Projects based on the list that bicyclists and pedestrians from around Missouri compiled, prioritized, and submitted to the agency in 2010. We should see the agency's final list soon--and it looks like it is going to be a good one.
- The Delmar Loop in St Louis & University City is one of the great success stories in Missouri for revitalizing an area--and using pretty much every possible technique possible to make an urban area bicycleable, walkable, and accessible by transit along the way. The next big thing for the Delmar Loop is the Centennial Greenway bike path, which will reach from Forest Park to Washington University, the Delmar Loop, and eventually Croeve Coeur Lake.
This is another project of the Great Rivers Greenway district.
- The St Louis Bike Station continues to move forward--this week Boeing announced a $25,000 donation to the project.
